About The Recycling Project Org

How We Came To Be

The recycling project started when a mother-daughter duo noticed that people in need at Paz de Christo did not have a durable water bottle and instead relied on styrofoam or paper cups that did not last. During the summer of 2022 our first reusable water bottle drive was launched and promoted in the Ahwatukee area. Boxes were stationed at Zzeeks Pizza, Chris’ Water & Ice, Mountainside Martial Arts, as well as Bike Masters’ six locations.

2022 Success

Throughout the drive, a total of 678 reusable bottles were collected and distributed. Each bottle was cleaned, sanitized, and donated to those in need at Paz de Christo, East Valley Men’s Center and St. Vincent de Paul.

2023 Success

Due to initial success the first year, for 2023 the  project was expanded to nearly 50 business locations in the Phoenix Metropolitan area, including over 15 cities and towns. We enlisted the help of over 25 volunteers to hand wash and sanitize the bottles with Boy Scout Troops and various clubs and organizations.  As a result over 1,500 reusable water bottles were distributed in year two to those in need at facilities such as Paz de Christo, ASU Project Humanities and St. Vincent de Paul.

Looking Forward

In the future, we hope to expand out of the Phoenix valley and give people easier access to water all over the US.
